Unfortunately the airbag light had been fooled by resistors, and the tech that inspected it didn’t notice at time of inspection so we were not able to arbitrate (return) the car to auction. We did put a new dash in, and replace / inspect all the other airbags. It was a 2017, and at that point you fix it or lose soooooooooo much money returning it to the auction...
Technicians do not expect this stuff to happen unless they have seen it before so hopefully this is a lesson to anyone who notices the vinyl on the dash looks a little off.
Used car service is a disgusting business, but I try to fight for the good of the people even if the sales department want to f***ed buy red light auction cars. Stay vigilantle in this business. The day you quit caring is when you should quit.

Always been serviced by the dealer previously as found in the service books, customer just bought it... The belt has been routed incorrectly (on-top of the flat pulley instead of underneath) and has worn a deep groove into the dipstick tube and halfway through the dipstick itself.

Pretty much they think he had it apart for god knows why and fucked up then decided to screw insurance company. And it worked for him lol they’re doing it for free

7.3. Customer did his own injector orings. Overtorqued the injector holddowns and they broke after a few miles. 1 & 5 made some impressive dents in the valve cover when they tried to go through.

Boss quoted 5 hours and was really drumming up how much of a nightmare it would be. Turns out it was only held in there by cable ties and quick splices. Slipped some heat shrink over the cut insulation and it was out the door in 15 minutes.

That’s no accident. Can’t be. Somebody, somewhere, typed that into the system and left it like that . Not sure if they were bored or just having a massive brainfart lol .

Excellent batch this week! I had to change my pants after that wheel bearing photo...
A couple questions:
What’s the ‘old school trick’ with the fuse with the gunk in the middle? Seems like it would make seating it properly impossible.
With the guy who overtorqued his injector holddowns... the injectors in the cylinders fell off and then oil just flooded the cylinders? Or did the injectors cause damage after they fell off? Or both? There is that comment about dents in the valve cover; I guess a few of them got blown out?
Thanks as always for these excellent curations!

There are many ‘old school tricks ’ for bridging fuses and none of them are advisable . OP is probably just sharing a fuse he found, rather than promoting the technique as a good idea. Fuse boxes typically have plenty of surface area on the contacts, so I’m sure this was still able to make a connection.
The 7.3 ’s injectors are located under the valve covers. So it sounds like what happened is that when the overtorqued hold-downs broke, c ylinder pressure blew the loose injectors up out of the injector cup s and into the valve covers . And with the injectors unseated, oil was able to flow into the cylinders...

I;m wondering if the trunk one is real, or just a reversed/sped up video.
